work, and colleague conflicts
Colleagues’ conficts are actually not common, but it will happen when the boss plans it so. The boss puts two colleagues as “equal” leaders in projects, and the two are not speaking the same language, or devoting to the same level.
Bioinformaticians has their specialist and profession, that they needs to do research, and work, to a deep extend, that’s paramount to 40 hours a week, at least. When an outsider, who is stubborn with unprofessional ideas, and did not do the same amount of research, being tough and asking for things as he or she imagines, it’s a conflict. And the boss, after long time discussing with the stubborn and tough one, will ressort to the soft one to yield. This will end up with the wrong direction of the project, and it shows no respect to the hard work of the bioinformatician.
work report
Work reports should be clear with the detailed methods used, so that the discussion can be effective, and process can be controlled and debugged. Work reports are not for showing the amount of work done. The clear methods used are clarification of the concepts, so that repeated concepts can be easily followed by listenters.
Study design and data generating
The study design not involving bioinformatician, or the work in generating the data not reported to bioinformatician, such a project is doomed.
